The investigation into Shinholster began when the FBI executed a federal search warrant at a home in Metro Detroit in September 2025 regarding a person possessing and distributing child pornography. The person involved in this case was not named in the criminal complaint.
During the search, federal investigators learned that the unnamed suspect traded images and videos of child pornography with multiple people, including a user on social media called “Yung P,” who was later identified as Shinholster.
Investigators searched through the suspect’s phone, showing that Shinholster allegedly sent at least 12 videos containing child pornography to the suspect.
Shinholster also allegedly received dozens of videos containing child pornography from the suspect on the same social media app.
The FBI did not disclose which social media app the two were using.
According to court records, Shinholster sent at least nine videos containing child pornography to the unnamed suspect on April 26, 2025.
On May 5, 2025, Shinholster allegedly sent at least 16 child sexually explicit videos to the suspect.
During their chat on the social media app, Shinholster and the suspect allegedly talked about their mutual sexual interest in children and their desire to sexually assault children.
Federal authorities said that when Shinholster received multiple videos of child pornography on March 5, he responded, “Damn bro you be having all the good s***. . . Just send me s*** whenever.”
On March 20, Shinholster allegedly compared one of the victims in a video to the child of a former domestic partner. When the unnamed suspect asked Shinholster if he had touched the child, Shinholster allegedly replied, “I wish but I was scared [the child] would tell her [parent].”
How FBI identified Shinholster as ‘Yung P’
Law enforcement confirmed Shinholster’s identity using the social media app’s profile saved on the unnamed suspect’s phone. The phone number associated with the account was linked to a person who shares a last name with Shinholster and lives in Canton Township.
According to the FBI, Shinholster’s driver’s license lists the same address in Canton Township as his address.
The FBI also said Shinholster’s Facebook page has an image posted on April 17, 2025, with him in an advertisement for TV and home theater installations. The phone number on the ad matched the phone number associated with Shinholster’s.
The FBI executed a search warrant at Shinholster’s home in Canton Township on Oct. 28, 2025. There, authorities found him with his phone.
After law enforcement read him his Miranda rights, Shinholster allegedly admitted to using the phone number associated with the social media account.
Federal authorities searched his phone and found the social media app that he and the unnamed suspect were communicating on.
The FBI also said Shinholster was signed into an X account with the display name “Yung P.”
