Case against Detroit father accused of killing infant dismissed Case dismissed mid-trial

DETROIT – The charges against a Detroit father accused of killing his daughter have been dismissed.
Charles Evans was accused of killing his 9-month-old daughter in 2023 in their home on Detroit’s west side. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Evans was arrested and charged with felony murder and first-degree child abuse , but on Dec. 8, 2025, the case was dismissed in the middle of his trial.
