Woman charged with unarmed robbery after purse snatchings at Rochester Hills stores

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. – Lynsie Marion Leinenger, 37, of Auburn Hills, was arraigned on two felony charges after allegedly stealing purses from two shoppers at different stores in Rochester Hills.

Leinenger faces charges on Friday (Dec. 12) of unarmed robbery, a 15-year felony, and larceny from a person, a 10-year felony.

Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety, and Leinenger was ordered to appear Dec. 23 for a probable cause conference.

Leinenger is currently held in the Oakland County Jail.

The incidents occurred within 30 minutes of each other at Kroger and Meijer stores.

Shortly after 8 p.m., deputies responded to Kroger at 65 S. Livernois following a report of larceny.

Leinenger allegedly grabbed a purse from a shopping cart and fled.

The purse belonged to a 64-year-old Rochester Hills woman and contained a phone, wallet, necklace, and prescription medicine.

Around 8:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Meijer at 3610 Marketplace Circle for a robbery in progress.

Leinenger matched the suspect’s description in the Kroger incident.

At Meijer, Leinenger reportedly grabbed another purse from a shopping cart and ran to the back of the store.

The 71-year-old victim chased her, knocking Leinenger down with the cart.

The two wrestled over the purse before Leinenger snatched it and ran toward the front of the store.

Leinenger fell and injured her knee while fleeing.

The victim recovered her purse, and Leinenger was arrested.

Leinenger has prior convictions for home invasion and uttering and publishing.
