The driver was asked to exit his car for a consent search, and when the trooper began the search, the driver ran away down 7 Mile and then down Strathmoor Street, according to Michigan State Police.
The trooper used a Taser to take the driver into custody.
A .22 Daringer pistol and two AR platform pistols were found inside the man’s car, according to police.
Police also discovered the man was a convicted felon, connected to a previous conviction for carrying a concealed weapon in September.
The suspect was taken into custody and lodged at the Detroit Detention Center.
“Great work by this trooper to get these guns off the street,” said MSP Lt. Mike Shaw. “The investigation into where these guns came from is continuing.”
The case is pending review by the prosecutor.
