Wixom police and firefighters took over CPR and brought the child to Ascension Providence Hospital in Novi. She was transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Detroit, where she died from her injuries.
The girl died from “multiple injuries throughout her body,” officials said. Savage is accused of being the only adult with her at the time she suffered those injuries.
Savage was taken into custody and arraigned on charges of felony murder and first-degree child abuse.
He was found guilty by a jury on Oct. 23 of first-degree child abuse. He was acquitted on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
He was sentenced on Dec. 10 to 25 to 50 years in prison.
