DETROIT – The Motor City’s reputation as a sports town will continue to grow as the 2027 NCAA Men’s Final Four is set to return to Detroit after nearly 20 years.
The national semifinals will take place on April 3, 2027, at Ford Field, followed by the national championship game on April 5, 2027.
Mayor Mike Duggan credited the persistence of Michigan State University and coach Tom Izzo in helping secure the bid for the event, which last took place in Detroit in 2009. He noted that Detroit has grown significantly over the last 18 years and is now fully prepared to be in the national spotlight, as demonstrated by the successful hosting of the NFL Draft.
On Friday, Dec. 19, the NCAA unveiled the logo for the 2027 men’s Final Four at Ford Field.
The logo, designed by Section 127, pays tribute to Detroit’s heritage and grit. It incorporates local street signs, auto tags, and industrial themes and prominently features the 313 area code.
A basketball/vinyl record graphic nods to Motown and Detroit’s music legacy, while brackets frame the city, symbolizing Detroit as the center of the event.
Michigan State University will serve as the host institution, maintaining its strong connection to the Final Four after reaching the title game in Detroit in 2009.
