ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The holiday shopping frenzy before Christmas is well known, but the day after is just as busy.
Many people head to local stores to spend Christmas money and hunt for clearance deals.
“I usually always try to avoid the areas during Christmas season because it’s so crazy,” Jen Flournoy, who worked at Fairlane Green for 17 years, shared. “But having teenagers now and them getting money and stuff, I just want them to get what they want.”
“The paper was half off,” said Suzette Jaczynski. “They had a lot of Christmas decorations were half off. Tags, ribbons, I mean the foods were like 30% off.”
Alongside buying, many people are making exchanges for gifts that weren’t quite right or items they no longer need.
Brenda Kelp explained how she was returning a turntable, “We were going to play games with it and we didn’t end up playing.”
The Better Business Bureau reports that most people make at least one return each holiday season. It suggests checking store return policies before heading out, as many retailers change their policies for the holiday season.
So far, shoppers say stores have been running smoothly, making it easy to handle business.
“I mean, you can just get up in the line and we’re good,” Jaczynski noted.
