Police searching for driver who shot at car on I-75 in Detroit

Freeway was closed on New Year’s Eve as police investigated

DETROIT – Police are searching for the driver who shot at a car on I-75 on New Year’s Eve.

According to Michigan State Police, the shooting happened on southbound I-75 near Grand River on Dec. 31 at around 9:30 p.m.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they found a car with two bullet holes on the rear driver’s side door.

Police believe the suspect was driving in a dark-colored Dodge SUV.

The freeway was closed Wednesday evening as police collected evidence at the scene.

“This investigation is ongoing,” Michigan State Police F/Lt. Mike Shaw said on X. “Currently, troopers are gathering evidence, trying to find a motive to the shooting and reviewing video in the area of the shooting. Anyone who witnessed this shooting or has information is asked to call state police at 855.MICH-TIP or Crime Stoppers at 800.SPEAK.UP.”
