Hayes was sentenced for a single count of assault with intent to murder and is to have no contact with the victim directly or indirectly while serving her sentence.

She is ordered to pay the victim restitution under the Crime Victim’s Rights Act.

Hayes’ conviction stems from a July 3, 2024, incident in which she stabbed her boyfriend multiple times with two knives, causing him severe, life-threatening injuries.

Court documents revealed that the attack began while the victim was sleeping in their home in Clinton Township.

The victim suffered a total of 14 stab wounds, including one to the side of his neck.

It took at least four hours for the victim to be discovered by a neighbor who immediately contacted emergency services.

The victim was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital, where he underwent life-saving treatment by the emergency room staff.

He received ongoing medical and therapeutic treatment to address the lasting effects caused by this incident.

Hayes was convicted by a Macomb County jury on Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, following a five-and-a-half-day jury trial.

The verdict was delivered after fewer than five hours of deliberation.
