Detroit’s historic Chinatown corridor to get new look with Peterboro project Designers, crews are targeting completion in spring 2027, per the project materials released at the unveiling
DETROIT – Midtown Detroit Incorporated unveiled final design concepts for the Peterboro Streetscape project.
The plans, which were revealed on Monday (Feb. 23) morning, call for new sidewalks, cultural monuments, and decorative Chinese lighting fixtures meant to reference the corridor’s history as Detroit’s Chinatown.
Project leaders said work accelerated after the Chinese Merchants Association building was demolished in 2023 and that the state has contributed $1 million to support the effort.
Designers and crews are targeting completion in spring 2027, according to project materials released at the unveiling.
