WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. – Residents of the West Bloomfield Ridge neighborhood say they waited weeks for their trash to be picked up by Priority Waste. Priority Waste says they only faced delays this last week due to weather.
“There were some severe weather delays this past week due to the ice sheeting and fog conditions on Tuesday and Wednesday, however, all of those neighborhoods were recovered by Saturday,” the company said on Sunday.
Resident Sunny Khal lives in the neighborhood. She says her trash piled up for three weeks before it was picked up on Friday.
“It’s a lot. I didn’t think I could accumulate that much trash,” she said on Sunday.
Residents in the area shared a photo with Local 4 from a few weeks ago on what they say was their second missed pick up date. Trash is piled up.
Some people say two weeks went by without pickup, others say three.
“We live in West Bloomfield, so you can only imagine, people pay all of these property taxes and especially the neighbors that want to sell their house, I already know they are looking at us sideways,” Khal said.
She showed Local 4 messages from her Homeowners’ Association group.
“It’s now been two weeks since our trash has been picked up. Unacceptable,” one neighbor said two days ago.
“Does anybody know what’s going on with trash pick up?” one person said on Jan. 3.
“This is becoming a health issue - what can we do to get our trash picked up?” One person said.
“I called Priority Waste two days in a row and both times she said I will let the coordinator know. Still no trash pick up,” another said last week.
Local 4 previously covered Priority Waste after Macomb Township threatened to sue the company if it didn’t fix late pickup issues.
