Detroit Zoo, Belle Isle Nature Center closed this weekend due to dangerously cold temperatures

Zoo and Nature Center are expected to reopen Sunday, Jan. 25

The Detroit Zoo and Belle Isle Nature Center will be closed Friday, Jan. 23, and Saturday, Jan. 24, due to dangerously cold temperatures expected across metro Detroit.

This closure is a precaution to ensure the safety of guests, staff, and the animals during the frigid weather.

The polar bears, however, will be enjoying the chilly conditions.

Both the Zoo and Nature Center are expected to reopen Sunday, Jan. 25, weather permitting.

Visitors who purchased tickets for the closed days can use them for a future visit.
