A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. for Huron and Sanilac counties on Jan. 26.

The 4Warn Weather Alert continues Monday evening due to extreme cold.

What is a 4Warn Weather Alert?

We issue a 4Warn Weather Alert when we’re expecting weather conditions that will be inconvenient to our viewers.

Why did we extend the alert?

A Cold Weather Advisory goes into effect for all of Southeast Michigan at 7 p.m. through 10 a.m. Tuesday for the first round of dangerously cold wind chills this week. A quick temperature drop tonight will allow for wind chills to drop into the 10 to 20 degrees below zero range by Midnight for most of Metro Detroit.

The cold has taken hold and is not letting up this week. Frigid conditions are forecasted through Friday with wind chills occasionally reaching 15 below zero or colder. Not to mention, snow showers return early Tuesday, becoming more scattered into the afternoon, and are expected to result in a dusting to 2 inches of accumulation, with a low chance for isolated snow squalls. Additional snow showers are possible on Wednesday.
