DETROIT – On Tuesday alone, the city of Detroit had 51 water main breaks.
For example, streets were flooded and cars were stuck on ice on Barlow near 8 Mile and Groesbeck on the city’s east side, as well as Laing Street and Britain.
The city said it’s an all-hands-on-deck situation now, and it’s increasing crews and shifting staff from other departments to get things fixed.
The Detroit Water and Sewerage Department’s Deputy Director, Sam Smalley, joined Local 4 Live to talk about the response and what people can do to protect their homes. You can watch the full interview at the beginning of this article.
