The United States District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan Southern Division denied former Detroit Mayor Kwame M. Kilpatrick’s motions to modify or terminate restitution and to strike and object to continuing garnishment.
An amended judgment was imposed against Kilpatrick in criminal case No. 10-20403 for $1,718,457.11 on Monday (Feb. 2).
The government has been enforcing this judgment through miscellaneous case No. 22-51143.

Driver sentenced after brake-checking Border Patrol cars carrying detainees, flipping off agents
A man who flipped off Border Patrol agents transporting detainees on I-96 and brake-checked their cars was sentenced to probation.
On July 7, 2025, Border Patrol agents were transporting 15 people detained on violations of immigration law from the Gibraltar Border Patrol Station to the North Lake Correctional Facility in Baldwin in two separate marked cars.
