New video shows 6 angles of driver crashing into McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport

Video shows driver being arrested after crash

ROMULUS, Mich. – Local 4 obtained new video footage showing a terrifying crash at Detroit Metro Airport involving a man driving his Mercedes-Benz S-Class into the terminal.

The videos, captured from six angles, show the driver speeding into the departures area, accelerating, evading traffic, and making a sharp right turn into the McNamara Terminal on Friday, Jan. 23, 2026.

The vehicle narrowly avoided metal bollards before crashing through the terminal’s glass double doors.

Bystanders reported that everything seemed normal until the man suddenly drove through the glass.

The video shows the driver exiting the vehicle and yelling incoherently as security swarmed around him.

One angle from inside the airport captures the moment the vehicle crashes through the glass, nearly hitting travelers who quickly moved out of the way as the car plowed into the Delta Air Lines departure desk.

Another perspective from TSA agents shows the headlights glaring through the tall glass as travelers scatter to safety.

After the crash, security rushed to the scene to assess the wreckage.

The man, reportedly suffering from mental health issues, was handcuffed and escorted down to the airport’s first level.

He was heard yelling, “They’re trying to kill me,” while wearing a Detroit Lions black Amon-Ra St. Brown jersey.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m.

The airport confirmed no customers were injured, though three employees who encountered debris were checked by EMTs.
