Michigan Flyer-AirRide will resume service from Ann Arbor to DTW in April
ANN ARBOR โ Starting on Monday, April 26, Michigan Flyer-AirRide will be restoring its daily service between East Lansing, Brighton, Ann Arbor and Detroit Metro Airport. The restoration is made possible by funding the bus service secured through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. In order to help prevent the risk of person-to-person transmission of the coronavirus, cash payments will not be accepted. If youโre boarding in Ann Arbor, tickets may be purchased with cash inside the Blake Transit Center during business hours. Cleaning and sanitizing buses daily, with special attention to high-touch areas.

Jameel Murphy and Raymonique Williams, both of Detroit, pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. ROMULUS, Mich. โ Two Spirit agents were injured, two passengers were arrested and another was cited this weekend following a bag dispute at Detroit Metro Airport, the airline says. According to Spirit Airlines, โthree passengers attacked our agents without provocation.โThe incident happened Sunday while the passengers were trying to board flight 646 from Detroit to Atlanta, according to Spirit. When the agents asked the passengers to verify that their carry-on bags were appropriate sizes before boarding, the passengers became combative, according to airline officials. The agents tried to defuse the situation but were โphysically assaultedโ as they closed a door to stop the passengers from boarding, Spirit officials said. One of the agents was taken to a nearby hospital after the incident, airline officials said.

ROMULUS, Mich. โ Passengers on a flight from Tokyo to Detroit were screened for coronavirus Friday afternoon. An official from Delta told Local 4 the airline is aware that passengers were screened. Lisa Gass with Detroit Metropolitan Airport says the airport is not aware of any possible coronavirus cases. As of Friday the fifth possible case of the deadly disease in Michigan was being investigated by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Four other possible cases in Washtenaw and Wayne counties came back negative.

ROMULUS, Mich. โ The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conducting enhanced passenger screenings at Detroit Metro Airport amid the coronavirus outbreak, which is concentrated mainly in Wuhan, China. Five cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in the U.S., but all of those people had recently traveled to Wuhan. Cleaning frequencies have also been increased in the McNamara Terminal, which has direct flights to and from Beijing and Shanghai, China. According to the CDC, coronavirus has the potential to be a serious public health threat but currently is not something Americans should be worried about.

With coronavirus spreading across China and making its way to the U.S., health officials in Michigan want people to be aware. They should continue to use precautions like they would any other health threat, including the flu or the common cold,โ Sutfin said.
Detroit Metro Airport customs officers stop Chinese citizen visiting US to collect sensitive data
ROMULUS, Mich. โ U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers stopped a woman at Detroit Metro Airport who said she was coming to the country to probe companies for sensitive data. She was questioned by CBP officers Nov. 14. Upon discovering that the womanโs intent went beyond the scope of activities allowed by her visa classification, CBP Officers allowed her to withdraw her application for admission and she was returned to China. โIntellectual property theft is a CBP trade priority,โ said Acting Port Director Robert Larkin. โCBP Officers are on the frontlines to prevent the theft of intellectual property rights and I commend the officers for their diligent work to reveal this travelerโs true intention.โ
