BERKLEY, Mich. – Families of missing persons gathered in Berkley for a special event focused on sharing their stories and connecting with others facing similar situations.
The Berkley Department of Public Safety partnered with Missing in Michigan to host the event, providing a space for families to support one another and raise awareness about missing loved ones.
Kellie James, whose sister has been missing since 2019, described the event as a family group where attendees can relate and talk openly.
“This is my second time actually coming and it’s a great family. We can all talk to each other, we relate to each other, and it’s getting our stories out to get more traction to help find our loved ones,” Kellie said.
She emphasized the importance of raising awareness, noting that many missing persons cases in Michigan seem overlooked.
“There’s a lot of missing people in Michigan and it seems like it falls to the wayside, and nobody seems to care. This is to get more awareness. These are our loved ones and we want them to come home.”
Kellie described her sister as her best friend.
When asked about her commitment to finding her sister, Kellie said, “I promised my dad when he died. I said I’m never going to quit. I’m never going to stop.”
