TROY, Mich. – Residents of the Residences of Troy Apartments are experiencing significant issues with their living conditions again.
They report that the heat has been out for weeks, hot water is inconsistent, and burst pipes have become a frequent issue.
This is not the first time the complex has had trouble.
When it was known as Troy Place Apartments, the attorney general’s office investigated heat issues and reached an agreement with management.
Now operating under a new name, the building continues to face the same challenges.
Jeshawn Scott, who lives in the complex, said, “It’s ridiculous you’re spending all this money to stay in the hood. This is the hood.”
Though the Residences of Troy Apartments are advertised online as luxury apartments, residents say their experience is far from luxurious.
Jelena Tafelski, a resident, said, “I spend $2,109, for what?”
For many, living here has been a nightmare since day one.
Daniel Scott, another resident, said, “I brought it to their attention right then and there, and they claim that they were going to send somebody in. That’s their excuse every month, but nothing ever gets done. I haven’t seen anyone come in and fix anything.”
Residents said management gives them the runaround.
Calls were made three times, and though a statement was promised, it never came.
Local 4 called the apartment complex several times but received no statement.
Jeshawn Scott added, “Everybody is talking about moving. It’s like y’all need to shut it down, rebuild it, do something. Find a new management and get your stuff together.”
Efforts to reach the attorney general’s office to see if they are aware of the current problems have not yet received a response.
