BERKLEY, Mich. – Police are seeking tips after a shot was allegedly fired at a teen’s car in Berkley on Saturday night in what they believe was a targeted attack.

When officers arrived, they did not locate any witnesses or signs of a disturbance.
About an hour later, around 11:45 p.m., a family contacted the department to report that a car had been shot while in a parking lot at 3490 W. 12 Mile Road. The family filed a report with the police.
A preliminary investigation indicates the shooting was not random and appears to have been aimed at the victim or someone associated with him.
Police said several masked individuals approached a group gathered in a parking lot.
As people began leaving, a 17-year-old ran to his vehicle in an attempt to leave. A single shot was fired, striking the rear driver’s side door of the teen’s vehicle, according to police.
Neither the 17-year-old driver nor his passenger was hurt. Everyone involved left the parking lot shortly after that, police said.
Police believe the suspects fled south on Royal from 12 Mile in multiple vehicles, described as a white or gray mid-size Chevrolet sedan, possibly similar to a Malibu, and a dark-colored Jeep that may have been maroon or red.
Authorities are asking anyone who was in the area around 11:45 p.m. and may have captured video of the vehicles traveling together to contact BDPS at 248-658-3380. Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has additional information is urged to contact the police.
