PONTIAC, Mich. – A 21-year-old has been charged in a Pontiac crash that killed a mother and two of her children.
It happened in August 2025, near the intersection of Montcalm Avenue and Joslyn Road.

According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 21-year-old Pontiac resident was driving a Honda Civic that veered into oncoming traffic, left the road, and hit several signs and poles before returning to the road, where it crashed into a car that was stopped at a red light.
Deniquah Reed and her sons, 6-year-old Dior and 4-year-old Dex, were killed in the crash. A 9-year-old daughter was seriously injured and has since recovered.
Tomas Alvarado Jr. was charged Monday, March 2, with three counts of reckless driving causing death and one count of reckless driving causing serious injury.
He was released on a personal bond.
