SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – A woman was arrested for operating while intoxicated (OWI), causing death, after a man was found dead in Southfield.

The incident occurred on Thursday (March 5) around 11 p.m. when Southfield police responded to reports of the man lying in the middle of 8 Mile Road near Lahser Road.

Officials pronounced the man dead at the scene.

While investigating, the Southfield Police Department said it received a call from a Redford Township resident who reported she believed she had been involved in an accident.

Police said they went to the woman’s location to continue the investigation.

Officials said they determined the 26-year-old woman had been operating a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Police said the woman was arrested on a charge of operating while intoxicated, causing death.

Police said a 28-year-old passenger provided false information to officers during the investigation and was also arrested.

Officials said the woman is a resident of Redford Township.

Police said the 26-year-old driver remains in police custody.

The case is being reviewed by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office, and investigators said the matter remains active.
