Massive water main break at 14 Mile, Verona floods Oakland County neighborhoods

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Crews are making progress to get water flowing again in Walled Lake and Novi. This comes after a massive water main break that happened on 14 Mile Road at Verona on Saturday, flooding neighborhoods, submerging cars and forcing evacuations.

The Great Lakes Water Authority said crews removed the damaged section and are installing a new pipe piece, which is expected to be finished on Monday, March 9.

Water pressure is near normal, but a boil water advisory remains in effect for Novi and Walled Lake.

Under the advisory, do not drink tap water without boiling it first. Bring it to a rolling boil for about a minute, let it cool or use bottled water.

Also, a water restriction is still in place. Officials are asking residents to avoid washing clothes and to take shorter showers while water pressure is restored.
