DETROIT – A man has died after sideswiping his car with a plow truck and being struck by another car late Monday night.

The crash happened on March 16, just before midnight, on eastbound I-96 near Southfield Freeway.

A Wayne County plow truck was salting in the left lane when a 32-year-old Farmington man, driving a Toyota passenger car, sideswiped the plow truck, causing his car to bounce off the truck and stop in the center lane of eastbound I-96. Police said the car’s lights were not on after the crash.

As Michigan State Police troopers were heading to the crash, a person driving a Jeep Commander was traveling eastbound and struck the Toyota.

The 32-year-old Farmington man died at the scene. The driver of the Jeep and the driver of the plow truck were not hurt.

The freeway was closed for police to investigate the scene.
