MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – An Oakland County teen is facing charges in connection with a shooting that happened outside of a Macomb County gym, officials said.

  • Discharge of a firearm from a motor vehicle causing injury (15-year felony)
  • Carrying a concealed weapon (5-year felony)
  • Possession of counterfeit bank, state or municipal bills (5-year felony)

The charges stem from a shooting that happened outside of the Edge Fitness gym in Sterling Heights on Sunday, March 15, 2026.

The prosecutor’s office said a group of teens and young adults had gathered in the parking lot “in expectation of a pre-planned fight.”

Shots were allegedly fired from an F-150 truck that Maroof was driving.

One minor suffered a non-fatal injury after he was struck in the foot.

In addition, when authorities executed a search warrant, they found counterfeit money in a safe and lock box that belonged to the teen.

Maroof’s bond was set at $200,000 cash/surety, no 10%.

If released, Maroof must wear a steel cuff tether, and he cannot have any contact with the complaining victim.

His probable cause conference is scheduled for March 26.

“It is deeply concerning to see young people involved in situations that can have lasting, harmful consequences on their lives,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido. “Violence, whether through fights or firearms, does nothing to resolve conflicts between individuals. The allegations in this case are extremely serious, and it is my hope that other young people recognize the potential consequences.”
