Westland woman pleads no contest in deadly hit-and-run crash on New Year’s Day

Other charges dismissed under plea agreement

WESTLAND, Mich. – A 37-year-old woman has pleaded no contest in a deadly hit-and-run crash on New Year’s Day.

On Friday, March 20, Jasmine Wynn pleaded no contest to operating under the influence, causing death in connection with the crash.

The crash happened in Westland, near the intersection Grand Traverse Street and Belding Court. A 61-year-old man was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The driver reportedly fled the scene, but was taken into custody at her home shortly after.

Wynn was initially charged with operating while intoxicated causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death, and assaulting or resisting a police officer.

As part of her plea agreement, the other charges were dismissed.

Wynn is scheduled to be sentenced April 24.
