WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A jogger was seriously injured after being attacked by three dogs in Plymouth Township Saturday morning.
Police said the pit bull and two cane corsos attacked the runner on Canton Center Road. Shortly after 6:30 a.m. on March 28, officers received a call about the attack, and the man was unresponsive and no longer fighting back.
When the first officer arrived, they could not immediately reach the man because the dogs blocked access and aggressively approached. The officer fired at the dogs, hitting one cane corso. All three dogs ran off.
Officers and paramedics then aided the man and transported him to the hospital, where he is in stable condition.
Local 4 spoke with a man who did not want to be identified but said he lives near the dogs’ owners. He said the attack should not have happened.
“People shouldn’t have to live in fear,” he said.
The man also said he was driving around looking for the dog.
The cane corso that was shot was found about five blocks from the incident and was euthanized due to safety concerns. The other cane corso was found near an elementary school, secured, and taken for quarantine.
Police are still searching for the pit bull. The owners of the dogs have been identified.
If you see the third dog, do not approach it. Call Plymouth Township Police at 734-354-3250 immediately.
