Macomb County man was asked to leave friends’ home. Then, he stabbed their dog, police say

WARREN, Mich. – A Macomb County man was allegedly asked to leave the home of some friends after he made inappropriate comments, but police said he stabbed their dog in the process.

Police say he pulled out a knife and slashed it toward a man and his daughter at their Warren home.

The family dog came to protect owners and Vigneau stabbed the dog in the mouth area two times, police say.

The dog suffered nonfatal injuries.

The attack happened on May 17.

James Vigneau, 42, of Warren, was arraigned on felony charges alleging that he committed an armed assault on two people and stabbed the family’s dog.

On May 18, Vigneau was arraigned on the following charges:

· Animals – Killing/Torturing – Second Degree, a 7-year felony

· Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a 4-year felony

· Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, a 4-year felony

· Habitual Offender – Fourth Offense Notice, an aggravating sentencing factor

If released, he must wear a GPS tether.

Vigneau is not permitted to contact any victims and must not have contact with animals that may be considered pets.

Vigneau is scheduled for a Probable Cause Conference at the 37th District Court on May 28.
