DETROIT – Police said they have taken a 17-year-old into custody in connection with a shooting involving officers last week during the execution of a search warrant on the city’s east side.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (May 27) at a home near Lansdowne Street near Moross Road, where officers were serving a warrant related to a previous shooting investigation.
According to police, 20-year-old Anthony Boone fatally shot himself in the head before officers could arrest him.
When officers heard the gunshot, they returned fire, police said.
It was not immediately clear whether anyone was struck by the officers’ gunfire.
The 17-year-old taken into custody was among the individuals police were seeking at the residence in connection with the earlier shooting investigation, police said.
Police did not release additional details about what led to the warrant being served or the roles of those involved.
No charges have been announced, and the investigation remains ongoing.
