CHESTERFIELD, Mich. – A Chesterfield man is out more than 800 dollars after he says his car was damaged at a nearby Jax Kar Wash at the end of May.
He says he called and came back and kept getting the cold shoulder on reimbursement, until Local 4 checked in.

On May 29, Vince Johnson pulled up to get his car washed. The attendant helped him line his car up, he put it in neutral and thought all was fine.
Until it wasn’t.
“It came off the track and I crashed into the equipment,” Johnson said.
He showed Local 4 the dashcam video of the moment it happened. You can hear him asking if there’s any damage.
“He said, ‘No,’ so then, he lined me up again and we went through no problem that time,” Johnson said.
Then he drove home.
“But, when I got home, I saw the damage,” he said. “I even told them I had a video.”
First, he called. They said they would call him back. He says they never did.
Then, he went back up the next day. The manager said she’d not heard about it.
She said she’d make a report and get back with him. He never heard from her.
He went back up a few days later. He was told to reach out to their customer support, so he sent them photos of the damage.
“I sent them probably about 5 or 6 emails. No response,” he said.
Finally, he decided to get an estimate of the damage. It would cost $863.63.
“I decided to fix it. I figured, they aren’t going to fix it,” Johnson said.
He still wants his money back. He wasn’t getting anywhere on his own.
So, Johnson reached out to Local 4. Local 4 reached out to the car wash company.
Johnson got two messages soon after.
“They told me they would send it off to the district manager and have that person get back with me,” Johnson said.
“If the person that could fix this were standing right here, what would you say to them?” Local 4 asked.
“I want my money back for the damages and now I have three memberships with Jax,” he said. “I don’t trust them now after this – so I want my money back for the membership that I had not used also.”
Local 4 reached out to Jax Kar Wash about Johnson’s situation, but has not heard back.
