PORT HURON – A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) search of a Canada-bound commercial semitruck near the Blue Water Bridge on Thursday uncovered 133 pounds of cocaine, the agency reported.
The vehicle was selected for a physical inspection in Port Huron after attempting the border crossing, and a search by officers and K9 units revealed 55 shrink-wrapped bricks of a white powdery substance concealed within two cardboard boxes. After determining that the powder was in fact cocaine, the drugs, truck and trailer were seized and the driver is facing federal charges.

“With this drug seizure, our frontline officers have dealt another significant financial blow to the transnational criminal networks attempting to exploit our shared border for profit,” said CPB Port Huron Port Director Jeffrey Wilson, in a statement.
The case remains under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations.
