Friday turned out to be a nice day across the region, most of us saw some sunshine and warm temperatures. The clouds have increased across the region, and we are looking at a wet weekend taking shape across Metro Detroit.

Looking ahead into the weekend, we will keep the chance of rain showers in both Saturday and Sunday, there also could be a few thunderstorms that develop along a frontal boundary that will move into the region, and stall out through late Sunday.

There’s a better chance for more widespread coverage of rain on Saturday afternoon & evening, and into the overnight compared to the end of the weekend on Sunday. Some places could see over an inch or more of rainfall, especially where multiple rounds of rain move through throughout the weekend. But as of right now, we don’t have any flooding concerns, looking ahead into the weekend.

High temperatures will remain in the upper 70s to around 80° on Saturday, then drop into the mid to upper 70s for everyone by the end of the weekend on Sunday.

We’re keeping an eye on early next week, as the forecast models are showing an upper-level disturbance being “cutoff” from the jet stream, and that means that we might see a few rain showers. I have removed them from the forecast on Saturday morning as it looks like, at least at the start of next week, it will stay south of the region, but we will keep an eye on it it. For now, we will keep lots of sunshine into the forecast for Monday and Tuesday. Expect a little more cloud cover in the forecast looking ahead into the middle of the week on Wednesday. High temperatures in the lower 80s to start the week, will warm into the mid-80s by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Another frontal boundary looks to move into the region by the time we get to the second half of next week. Expect chances for showers and thunderstorms buy the time we get to Thursday, and also chances for rain showers by the end of next week on Friday. High temperatures remaining in the low to mid 80s by the end of next week.
