WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A Highland Park man who pleaded no contest to multiple charges relating to a 2024 home invasion and altercation with a police officer in Center Line was sentenced on Tuesday to 14-25 years in prison.
The charges against Brendan Tyrell Wilson, 24, stem from an incident in the 7300 block of State Park on Oct. 12, 2024, when he reportedly broke into a home carrying an AK-style weapon and — upon leaving the scene — crashed into a police car and fired several rounds at the officer.

Wilson pleaded no contest to assault with intent to murder, third-degree fleeing and eluding, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, assault with a dangerous weapon and four counts of felony firearm on April 7.
As part of the plea deal, charges of malicious destruction of police property, malicious destruction of a building and driving with a suspended license were dismissed.
“This case is a tragic example of how one poor decision can quickly lead to another, with lasting consequences,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said in April. “As a result, a young man will spend the prime of his life behind bars.”
Wilson was also ordered to pay around $3,000 in restitution to the victim.
