OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A semi-truck overturned and crashed into Pine Lake, spilling a small amount of fuel into the water and prompting a hazardous materials response, police said.
The crash occurred on Monday (Aug. 3) around 6:24 p.m. on Pine Lake Road between Seminary Drive and Indian Trail in West Bloomfield Township.
Police said the driver, a 42-year-old man, was traveling along Orchard Lake Road when the semi-truck and trailer lost control and overturned into the lake.
The driver was found sitting on top of the overturned truck when emergency crews arrived.
Officials said he suffered a leg contusion but declined transportation to a hospital.
Investigators said alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
Officials said a small amount of fuel leaked into Pine Lake following the crash.
The Oakland County Hazardous Materials Team, Oakland County Sheriff’s Technical Rescue Team and environmental cleanup crews responded to contain the spill and remove the vehicle from the lake.
Officials said they’re continuing to investigate what caused the driver to lose control of the truck.
