DETROIT – The annual Ford Fireworks return Monday, June 22, drawing thousands of spectators to the Detroit riverfront for one of the city’s most popular summer events.
Here’s where you can watch the spectacle.

Hart Plaza, Spirit Plaza offer free riverfront views
Hart Plaza and Spirit Plaza remain the go-to options for fireworks viewing. Both parks sit right on the Detroit Riverfront, open to the public at 2 p.m. at no cost.
Keep in mind that both locations fill up quickly — and once you leave, there’s no re-entry.
Belle Isle: Cars, bikes, pedestrians all welcome
Belle Isle opens to vehicles at 2 p.m., but only 3,000 cars will be allowed on the island.
Once that limit is reached, entry is limited to pedestrians and bicyclists only.
Motorists must have a Recreation Passport affixed to their vehicle to enter. Passports can be purchased at the entrance for $15. Out-of-state and international visitors can purchase a day passport for $12.
Entry is free for pedestrians and bicyclists.

Erma Henderson Park: New spot, smaller crowd
New to the lineup this year, Erma Henderson Park offers an alternative viewing option with a capacity of 1,500 people.
The smaller venue could be an advantage if larger sites reach capacity early.
What’s not allowed at viewing locations
Before heading out, here’s a quick rundown of items and activities prohibited at all viewing locations:
- Tents, alcohol, drones, pets or weapons
- Flames, fires or cooking of any kind
- Personal or consumer fireworks
