WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A 72-year-old man is warning others after reporting he was targeted in a suspected scam while working as a DoorDash driver in Wayne County.
The incident occurred on June 12 at about 8:24 a.m. in the 1600 block of Fleetwood Drive in Grosse Pointe Woods.

The victim said he told police that he received a phone call from a man who claimed to work for DoorDash.
The caller allegedly told the victim he needed to make a deposit into the victim’s account and asked for the victim’s debit card information.
After the victim provided the information, police said the caller claimed there was fraudulent activity on the account and demanded the victim’s account password and PIN to change his account credentials.
The victim said he told police he became suspicious after attempting to use his debit card and discovering he could no longer access his account.
Police did not release additional information about the investigation.
Authorities remind residents to be cautious of unsolicited calls requesting banking information, passwords, PIN numbers, or other personal details.
Legitimate companies typically will not ask customers to provide sensitive account information over the phone.
