DETROIT – Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Henry Bernard Montgomery, 38, of Detroit, in connection with burning and torturing a raccoon.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 10:44 a.m., at a residence in the 12000 block of Washburn Street, where it is alleged that Montgomery tortured and burned a raccoon.

It is further alleged that Montgomery posted a video on social media depicting the raccoon being burned alive.
An investigation by the Detroit Police Department led to the 38-year-old man’s arrest on June 20, 2026.
Officials said more complete facts and evidence will be placed on the record in court at the preliminary examination.
Montgomery has been charged with one count of animals, killing/torturing, third degree.
He was arraigned on June 22 in the afternoon at the 36th District Court and received a $20,000 personal bond with a GPS tether.
The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 1, 2026, at 8:30 a.m., and the preliminary examination is scheduled for July 8, 2026, at 8:45 a.m.
