Sunshine and comfortable temperatures continue across Metro Detroit

Rain chances return midweek with summer heat building this weekend

After a soggy start to the week, sunshine and comfortable temperatures return to Southeast Michigan today. Highs will climb into the 70s this afternoon under mostly sunny skies, making it a perfect day to spend time outdoors. Whether you’re heading to a local park, taking a walk, or getting the kids out on the playground, the weather will be hard to beat, but make sure you have your sunglasses and sunscreen.

Dry conditions are expected to continue through tonight as clear skies and comfortable temperatures settle in across Metro Detroit.

Slightly cooler-than-normal temperatures remain in place through the middle and latter part of the week, with afternoon highs generally reaching the mid to upper 70s. While sunshine will dominate much of the forecast, our next chance of rain arrives Wednesday night.

Wednesday itself should remain largely dry, allowing most outdoor plans to not be impacted by rain. Rain chances increase Wednesday evening/night and continue off and on through Thursday. Thursday appears to be the wetter day of the two, with periods of rain likely impacting outdoor activities off and on at times.

Looking ahead to the weekend, temperatures begin to warm back into the 80s. Additional rain chances return on Friday, but remain rather low and conditions are expected to improve significantly for Saturday and Sunday. Sunshine, warmer temperatures, and lower rain chances should make for excellent pool, lake, and outdoor recreation weather across Southeast Michigan as highs climb into the 80s.

If you’re already thinking ahead to the Fourth of July holiday, the forecast trend remains warm. Temperatures are expected to climb above average next week and continue through the holiday period, providing plenty of opportunities to enjoy time on the water, at backyard barbecues, and at holiday celebrations.
