Firefighters respond to early morning house fire in Grosse Pointe

GROSSE POINTE – Firefighters responded early this morning to a major house fire that broke out at a residence in Grosse Pointe on Wednesday.

Large flames could be seen emanating from the roof around 7:15 a.m. at the residence in the 1300 block of Wayburn Street near the border with Grosse Pointe Park.

The homeowner, Pierre Vinson, told Local 4 that he started smelling smoke when he went to turn on the lights, and when he looked in the electrical panel he saw flames.

“I immediately went downstairs to get my daughter out,” he said. “After that, it was just emergency mode ... pure adrenaline ... I knew it was something serious and I had to take action.”

Both Vinson and his 11-year-old daughter were able to evacuate the home safely.

No information has been released about the cause of the fire.
