4Warn Weather – Metro Detroit gets a mostly quiet end to the workweek before the chances for showers and thunderstorms increase this weekend.
Thursday evening will be mostly cloudy. Some drizzle or light rain could work into parts of Southeast Michigan, particularly south of M-59 and closer to the Michigan-Ohio border. Most of the area, however, will see little to no rain.
Temperatures will fall through the 70s during the evening, with overnight lows generally in the mid- to upper 60s.
Most of Friday stays dry
Friday will bring a mix of clouds and sunshine and another relatively quiet day across Metro Detroit. There is a small chance for a stray shower, but most communities should remain dry.
High temperatures will reach the lower 80s. An easterly breeze will also help keep temperatures a little cooler near Lake Huron. Temperatures will be in the lower 80s for the start of the Tigers’ evening game.
Friday night will be partly cloudy and comfortable, with lows mainly in the 60s.
Rain chances increase late Saturday
Saturday should not be a washout, particularly during the first half of the day.
The day will start with a mixture of clouds and some sunshine before moisture begins increasing. The chance for showers will climb during the afternoon, with rain and thunderstorm chances becoming more widespread Saturday evening and Saturday night.
If you have outdoor plans Saturday, such as the Woodward Dream Cruise, the morning currently offers the better opportunity for dry weather.
Saturday’s high will be in the lower 80s.
Saturday night into Sunday brings best chance for rain
The most widespread rain of the weekend is expected from Saturday night into Sunday morning as a warm front and an approaching weather system move through the Great Lakes.
Showers are likely Saturday night, with thunderstorms also possible. Rainfall totals of a half-inch or more will be possible in some locations.
Rain may become more scattered Sunday, but additional showers and thunderstorms remain possible, including during the afternoon. It will also turn warmer and more humid, with highs reaching the mid-80s.
Anyone with weekend outdoor plans should keep an eye on the forecast, but neither Saturday nor Sunday will bring an all-day rain.
Drier weather returns next week
The system moves east Sunday night, opening the door to a quieter start to the new workweek.
Monday and Tuesday are expected to be mainly dry with some sunshine and highs in the lower 80s. Overnight temperatures could fall into the lower 60s.
Another chance for an isolated shower may return Wednesday before mainly dry conditions return Thursday.
Overall, temperatures through the next week should remain seasonable, with afternoon highs generally in the lower to mid-80s.
