Florida prosecutors to charge Detroit Lions CB Terrion Arnold in robbery, kidnapping case

Prosecutors said the charges carry the potential for a sentence of up to life in prison if he is convicted

DETROIT – Florida prosecutors announced that criminal charges will be filed against Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold in connection with a robbery and kidnapping investigation stemming from an incident in the Tampa area earlier this year.

In a statement posted on Instagram, the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office said Arnold is expected to face multiple felony charges related to a February robbery and kidnapping case.

Prosecutors said the charges carry the potential for a sentence of up to life in prison if he is convicted.

“No one has the right to take the law into their own hands.

A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation.

This arrest is the result of months of investigative work and collaboration between the Tampa Police Department and our prosecutors.

We will continue to pursue justice for the three victims by holding everyone accountable for their roles in this crime”

State Attorney Suzy Lopez

What prosecutors allege

According to prosecutors, Arnold is accused of coordinating and directing several co-defendants to lure three men to an apartment where they were allegedly robbed, assaulted, and held at gunpoint.

Investigators allege Arnold believed the victims were responsible for the theft of more than $200,000 worth of personal property from an Airbnb rental he was using in the Tampa Bay area.

Prosecutors said their investigation found no evidence linking the alleged victims to the reported theft.

Authorities further allege the robbery and kidnapping plot was organized just hours after Arnold reported the missing items to police.

Co-defendants charged, two plead guilty

Several co-defendants have already been charged in the case.

Prosecutors said two defendants, Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo, pleaded guilty Wednesday (June 24) and agreed to cooperate with future proceedings.

Four other defendants remain jailed without bond.

The announcement marks a significant development in a case that previously lacked charges against Arnold.

Arnold’s attorney previously denied involvement

In February, Arnold’s attorney, R. Timothy Jansen, issued a statement denying any involvement by the NFL player and asserting that no evidence connected him to the alleged crimes.

“Mr. Arnold had no involvement whatsoever in the activities that led to those arrests,” Jansen said at the time. “He did not participate in, nor was he present for, any conduct related to the alleged offenses.”

Court documents filed earlier this year in the prosecution of one of Arnold’s alleged co-defendants referenced Arnold by name but did not charge him with a crime.

A February order by Judge J. Logan Murphy cited evidence presented by prosecutors, including text messages, victim statements, and video recordings, that investigators said linked several defendants to the alleged kidnapping and robbery.

The order described allegations that the crimes were committed in retaliation for burglaries at an Airbnb property associated with Arnold.

The judge’s findings were based on evidence presented during detention proceedings and did not constitute a determination of guilt.

Arnold’s NFL career

Arnold, 22, was selected by the Lions in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft after a standout career at the University of Alabama.

He is expected to be a key member of Detroit’s secondary in 2026.

Arnold missed the final portion of the 2025 season after undergoing shoulder surgery following a late-season injury.

“We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold. We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process,” said the Detroit Lions.

“Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence.

There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations.

Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their  sentences.

Mr. Arnold looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication."
