WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – A mobile market is coming to Wayne County to help bring fresh food to neighborhoods in need.
The Well Wayne Fresh Truck Mobile Market has been created by a partnership from Eastern Market and Wayne County.
The truck will make regular stops at senior housing, woman, infant and children clinics and health centers throughout the county.
In Michigan, Wayne County has the highest percentage and number of residents in need of food assistance at nearly 1/4.
In the county 453k people receive food assistance through snap.
The truck aims to overcome economic barriers to fresh food for the community by overcoming limited transportation, rising grocery prices and access.
Kennyle Johnson, director, of the Wayne County health, human and veterans services and Katy Trudeau, president & CEO, Eastern Market partnership joined Local 4 Live to talk about the the community and plans for the truck.
