ANN ARBOR, Mich. – At the 2026 Ann Arbor Art Fair the Huron Valley Ambulance (HVA) responded to 19 medical incidents.
According to the HVA, four patients were transported to local hospitals, three were provided with basic first aid, one was aided after multiple bee stings and other were aided for heat stress.

HVA has responded to medical emergencies at the Ann Arbor Art Fair since their creation at Washtenaw County’s hospitals in 1981.
HVA says they have specialized response teams assigned throughout the fairs, working with local public safety personnel to locate, treat, and transport sick and injured participants for medical treatment.
HVA deploys “bike teams” to respond to emergencies with Advanced Life Support capabilities, and “Gator teams” for transporting patients through crowded streets to ambulances located near to the fair.
“This year presented some unique challenges with the combination of high heat and humidity, Canadian wildfire smoke impacting the air quality, and the potential threat for severe weather,” Shane Flynn, HVA’s special event supervisor.
