DEARBORN, Mich. – A Dearborn man has been charged after aiming a shotgun at police while they conducted a welfare check. Police say, the incident lead to the man being shot in the leg by an officer.
Dearborn Police say they were dispatched to a residence in the 24000 block of New York Street around 11 p.m. on July 24 for a welfare check.

Allegedly once police arrived, Charles Williams Housman, Jr., 52, exited the residence armed with a shotgun, turned towards the officers and pointed the shotgun in their direction.
According to the officers after Housman pointed the shotgun they shot him in his left leg.
Authorities say after the shot was fired medics arrived on the scene and transported Housman to a local hospital for treatment.
Housman has been charged with one count of felonious assault, one count of felony firearm, one count of possession of a firearm under the influence, one count of disturbing the peace, one count of felonious assault, and one count of felony firearm.
On July 25, Houseman was arraigned in the 19th District Court. He received a bond of $50,000/10% with a GPS tether.
His Probable Cause Conference is on August 5, and his Preliminary Examination is on August 12.
