ST. CLAIR SHORES, Mich. – A Macomb County nonprofit has given kids with disabilities, developmental differences and in need; free therapy, life skills and a safe free place for nearly 30 years. Now, they need help.
Kids on the Go is moving to a new location in St. Clair Shores. According to the organization, the group is turning a former event center into a state-of-the-art space for kids aged three to 17.
The organization says the the new location will have an adaptative gym, instructional kitchen, classroom and store to help teens prepare for jobs, and dedicated space for family to receive support and resources.
Kids on the Go says new building will be fully accessible and has been designed around kids.
According to the organization the project has cost $2 million.
The nonprofit is turning to the community for funding aid, more than half of the money has been raised, now the organization wants to cross the finish line.
Kristy Schena, founder of Kids on the Go joined Local 4 Live to talk about the organization’s project and its goals.
