MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A St. Clair Shores couple is facing charges after allegedly throwing an explosive device at their neighbor’s lawn on Monday.
Jason Showers, 45, was charged with one count of placing explosives near a property, one count of possession of bombs with unlawful intent, two counts of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, two counts of felony firearm, and one count of habitual offender - fourth offense notice.
Megan Showers, 38, was charged with one count of placing explosives near a property and possession of bombs with unlawful intent.
On Aug. 3, Megan Showers allegedly lit the explosive device Jason Showers was reportedly holding prior to him throwing it in their 72-year-old neighbor’s yard.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office said the explosive device, described as a red, cylindrical device with the words “BYE BYE,” was extinguished by the neighbor.
Authorities executed a search warrant at the Showers’ home and found firearms, ammunition, and materials for making explosive devices.
Jason Showers’ bond was set at $100,000, cash-only. He is required to wear a steel cuff GPS tether upon release and was ordered not to contact the victim or his wife and cannot return to his home due to the proximity of the victim.
Megan Showers’ bond was set at $20,000 with a 10% option. She is required to wear a GPS tether upon release and was ordered not to contact her husband and the victim. She is allowed to return home after release.
Both are scheduled to return to court on Aug. 14 at 9 a.m. for a probable cause conference.
