FEMA denies aid appeal for deadly tornado recovery in Southwest Michigan

4 killed in 4 tornadoes in March

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has denied Michigan’s appeal for individual assistance for the deadly tornadoes in March.

FEMA also denied a statewide request for hazard-mitigation funding.

Four tornadoes, ranging from EF-0 to EF-3, hit Branch, Cass and St. Joseph counties, killing four people.

Michigan State Police said the state will keep working with communities out there and connecting survivors with resources.
