A 26-year-old Detroit licensed practical nurse was arraigned on charges alleging she stole controlled substances from a nursing home patient and falsified medical records to cover up the theft, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel’s office said.
Maniya Miller was arraigned in 37th District Court in Center Line on Friday (Aug. 7).

She faces three felony charges: larceny in a building, falsifying medical records and illegal possession of a controlled substance.
Each charge carries a maximum penalty of four years in prison, according to the attorney general’s office.
The allegations stem from an incident at a Centerline nursing home in 2024.
Officials allege Miller took controlled substances belonging to a patient and falsified medical records in an attempt to conceal the alleged theft.
The facility terminated Miller’s employment after the allegations surfaced and contacted law enforcement and the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, according to the attorney general’s office.
Miller was released on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
She is scheduled to appear Aug. 19 for a probable cause conference.
The case is being handled by the Michigan Attorney General’s Health Care Fraud Division, with assistance from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General.
