MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A 26-year-old Shelby Township man was arrested after a 21-year-old man was stabbed during a large gathering at Muskamoot Bay on Lake St. Clair.
Salem Asmar was arrested on Monday (Aug. 10) following the stabbing Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, and was charged with assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.
Asmar was arraigned in 72nd District Court and was given a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
Officials said a record number of people and boats gathered at Muskamoot Bay on Saturday to take advantage of the warm weather.
While many people enjoyed the day, police said others became intoxicated and behaved irresponsibly.
More than 50 people were left stranded after failing to return with the groups they arrived with.
Police said multiple fights also broke out throughout the day, including the altercation that resulted in the stabbing.
Officials said the 21-year-old victim was stabbed following a disagreement.
The sheriff’s office did not release additional information about the victim’s condition.
The sheriff’s office said its marine deputies were on the water throughout the event and responded to incidents as the crowd grew.
