DETROIT – Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced Wednesday that a man has been charged in the deadly stabbing of Jaquoya Wix in downtown Detroit on Sunday.

Jaquoya Wix, 34, was stabbed to death in a random attack in an alley near Woodward Avenue and E Congress Street on Sept. 20 at around 2:30 p.m.
Wix was working a regular shift at Chipotle on Sunday when she was attacked by a man with a knife.

What witnesses saw, heard
Two people who were right near the attack told Local 4 they heard her scream. She tried to walk back in the back door, but collapsed.
Employees at a nearby pub came out of their back door, tried to help her, then called 911.
The man went running, and an employee at another nearby business chased him while on the phone with police.
Suspect arrested
Officers used surveillance cameras to track the suspect to the area of Woodward Avenue and State Street, where officers took him into custody.
Investigators are working to determine a motive. Worthy said the attack appeared to be random.
Devon Watson, 42, was charged with first-degree murder. He is expected to be arraigned at 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 23.
